Millau Viaduct
The iconic Millau Viaduct
Undoubtedly "the most beautiful viaduct in the world". An exceptional structure in terms of its design and dimensions. The highest pillar exceeds the height of the Eiffel Tower. Construction began at the end of 2001, and the viaduct was put into service after almost 3 years of laborious work! It links 2 valleys, spanning the river Tarn. It has opened up the Massif Central, avoiding the endless traffic jams that used to form when crossing the town of Millau. Crossing the viaduct is the only motorway toll on the Clermont-Ferrand - Béziers section.
