5 minutes from the gîtes: Celles

South of Lodève, northwest of Clermont l'Hérault, lies the 750-hectare Lac du Salagou. The village of Celles lies to the north of the lake.

A few years before the Lac du Salagou was filled in, all the inhabitants of the village of Celles were expropriated. In 1990, the Conseil Général undertook work to secure the site. In 2017, it was decided to repopulate the village of Celles. The first inhabitants settled in 2019, the 50th anniversary of the village's abandonment in 1969.
