Sète
The town of Sète
With canals criss-crossing the city, Mont Saint Clair offering an exceptional panorama all the way to the Pyrenees, a fishing port in the city center and 12 km of beach, Sète has everything it takes to make a typical and surprising discovery.
Built on the slopes of Mont Saint Clair, between the Etang de Thau, the sea and the canals, it's one of the largest ports on the Mediterranean, with the mingled scents of sea and garrigue. Paul Valéry and Georges Brassens are its most famous sons.
It's also a lively, cosmopolitan city, with a picturesque atmosphere created by foreign communities, particularly Italian, and port activities.
